I know it’s a bit early for the end of the year holidays. However, I thought I'd post some flies I spun last year out of deer hair. Maybe someone else might be inspired to try something like this.

I used colored deer belly hair spun onto a long shank 3/0 Eagle Claw hook.....I removed the hook offset by bending while in my tying vice. After spinning the hair, I clipped them to shape. I used clear nail polish on the bottom of the hat to maintain a perpendicular angle with the shank.

If you can't tell, one is a Santa's Hat and the other is an Undecorated Christmas Tree. My intention is to still figure out how to put them in a small glass case and hand them on the tree this year.

Use some fiber optic strands in the fly so you can have lights in the tree. Just a thought. Looks very good!
