Sept 2 Cedar Point Flood Tide

September 2

When:

High tide is 11:38 AM and is a 5.8 and if there is an East or Northeast wide it could be higher and with a West wind it could be lower. I will launch at 9:30 AM at Cedar Point so I can scout some of the flats to fish.

Flies:

Only weedless flies will work in the grass. Dupree spoon flies work very well. Larry Miniard’s Fingernail Fly also works well. I will tie a few extra for the outing.

Presentation:

When the fish has his tail up, his head is in the mud so throw you fly a few feet in front of him in the direction you think he is going. When his tail goes down and head comes up, he should see your fly. You can get close to these fish, so you do not need to make a 40 ft. cast. Sometimes you will see a fish swimming along with his back out of the water. Cast you fly 4-5 ft. in front of him and he should take it. If you wade fish do not get too close to the tall grass, it is incredibly soft mud.

Eats:

We will have a BBQ after the outing at Adam Klohr house. I need to have a good head count to order the food. Adam’s lives @ 5267 Ostrich Ct. in the Tide Water Subdivision, this is off Cedar Point Rd. You will drive right by there on your way to the ramp. Let me know if you are planning to attend this out as soon as you can. The Cookout will start at 2:30 PM.

Rides and crafts:

If you signed up for the outing and do not have a ride let Dick know ASAP so I can try and find you someone with a boat. Kayaks are good to use for this outing.
